Cambrian Labs LLC (“Cambrian,” “we,” “us”) provides mobile applications and websites (the “Services”), including the Adey app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information.

1. Scope
This policy applies to the Services operated by Cambrian, including Adey. Some features may be optional; your choices and device settings may affect what we collect.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories:
A. Account & profile information
- Email address, phone number (if you choose to provide it), username
- Profile details you provide (e.g., bio, preferences)
- Profile photos and other profile media you upload
- Voice notes you choose to add to your profile
B. Location information
- Location data used to support core features such as showing people and content near you.
- Location may be derived from device permissions (e.g., GPS) and/or IP/network signals.
C. Messages and shared content
- Messages you send and receive within Adey.
- Photos and voice notes you share in direct messages.
- Metadata associated with messaging (e.g., timestamps, delivery status).
D. Audio/Video communications
- If you use in-app calling features (e.g., 2-way video), we process audio/video streams to provide the call.
- We may collect call metadata such as call start/end time, duration, and connection quality.
- We do not record calls by default unless we clearly notify you otherwise.
E. Device and usage information
- Device identifiers and technical data (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, language)
- Usage events (e.g., screens viewed, feature interactions)
- Network and performance data
F. Purchases and subscriptions
- Purchase status and subscription entitlements (e.g., whether Premium is active)
- Transaction receipts/identifiers as needed to validate purchases
- Payment processing is handled by Apple App Store / Google Play; we do not receive your full payment card details.
G. Safety & support information
- Reports you submit (e.g., abuse reports), blocks, and related review notes
- Support requests and correspondence
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and manage accounts
- Provide matching, messaging, and in-app communication features
- Personalize your experience and show relevant content
- Maintain safety, prevent fraud/abuse, enforce rules, and investigate reports
- Provide customer support
- Measure performance, debug issues, and improve the Services
- Comply with legal obligations
4. How we share information
We share information in the following ways:
A. With other users (in-app sharing)
- Profile information you choose to display (e.g., photos, bio) is visible to other users according to the app’s functionality.
- Messages, photos, and voice notes you send in DMs are shared with the recipients.
B. With service providers
We use vendors to help operate the Services (e.g., hosting, analytics, crash reporting, customer support). These providers process information on our behalf and under instructions.
LiveKit: We use LiveKit to provide real-time audio/video functionality. LiveKit may process audio/video streams and certain technical metadata required to establish and maintain calls.
Hosting & Database: We use Supabase and other cloud providers for secure data storage and authentication.
Analytics/crash reporting: We may use third-party tools to collect device and usage data (e.g., crash logs, performance metrics) to improve stability and user experience.
C. For legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law or legal process
- Protect the rights, property, and safety of users or the public
- Prevent fraud and address security issues
D. Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention
We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes (e.g., safety, fraud prevention, compliance). Retention periods vary depending on the type of information.
6. Security
We implement reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Your choices and controls
- Location: You can control location permissions in your device settings; some features may not work without location.
- Account deletion: You can initiate account deletion in the app or by contacting privacy@thecambrianlabs.com.
- Access/correction: You may request access to or correction of certain information by contacting us.
8. Children
Adey is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 to use Adey.
9. International processing
Your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate.
